Before I even met Jordanna, I wanted to collaborate with her.
When we finally sat down to plan for this shoot, we connected over feeling the need to constantly project a masculine strength to the world. Jordanna used to tour in a punk band, her anger constantly channeled into the mic with a potent "I don't care" attitude. Eventually the range of emotions that were crushed under this false mantra came to the surface.
In our conversation we thought out loud: Can't women be tender and strong at the same time? Aren't toughness and vulnerability inextricable?
We both agreed on maintaining the "raw feminine energy" that drives her identity as an artist. Rather than depicting it through a harder, edgier aesthetic, we wanted to portray feminine power through softness and sweetness that remained true to Jordanna's new soulful, RnB sound.
